They tactics they are resorting is exactly what Russia has used in 2014/2015 to fortify their occupied territories. Borodinka is a settlement 50 km from Kyiv that has strategic importance in shelling the capital with long-range MLRS shells or MSTA-S long-range 152mm howitzer shells.
